BARBOUR x KAPTAIN SUNSHINE

British lifestyle brand Barbour has teamed up with cult Japanese menswear brand Kaptain Sunshine for an adventure-inspired Fall/Winter 2025 capsule collection, five years after their first collaboration for Fall/Winter 2020. Given the timing of this first collaboration, as the world grappled with the COVID-19 pandemic, this second collaboration makes it all the more special.
The collection of outerwear, clothing, and accessories, including two caps, draws inspiration from Americana, workwear, military, and nautical styles. Barbour and Kaptain Sunshine prioritize the design and development of original fabrics, working closely with Japanese craftsmanship, to make each piece "timeless, durable, and resilient."

Lan Bergin, Barbour Menswear Director, said: "In addition to clothing and accessories, this new Autumn/Winter 2025 collection includes two outerwear pieces loosely inspired by our 'Bedale' and 'Transport' waxed jackets, but reimagined with interchangeable accessories in original colorways. This choice is left to the garment itself, bringing a touch of originality to this collaboration." A spokesperson for Kaptain Sunshine added: "The products feature original fabrics, made from the finest materials, with exceptional craftsmanship. Designed for everyday wear, this collection is built to withstand intensive washing and sun drying, true to the tradition and essence of country and marine clothing, creating an ideal companion for adventure." Key pieces from the collection include the Barbour x Kaptain Sunshine 'Bedale Casual Field Coat', a jacket from the Autumn/Winter 2020 collaboration, but reimagined in dry waxed cotton and available in three colorways with interchangeable hoods. Next up is the 'Cruiser Casual' jacket, loosely based on Barbour's 'Transport' jacket, with its mountain wool hood and available in 'steel blue', 'white stone', and black. The Barbour x Kaptain Sunshine 'Quilted Liner' jacket is also a jacket in its own right, compatible with both jackets. The collection also includes short- and long-sleeved T-shirts featuring a Barbour x Kaptain Sunshine bandana print, a nod to the spirit of adventure. Kaptain Sunshine was founded in 2013 by Shinsuke Kojima, an industry veteran and former editor-in-chief of a menswear magazine.
