Reebok is a brand of sports equipment which was born in 1895 in Bolton, England and created by Joseph William Foster. The company began as J.W. Foster and Sons, and it was one of the first companies to manufacture cleated athletic shoes. Plus, they made them by hand. Very quickly the company attracted an international sports clientele and provided its shoes for the Paris Summer Olympics in 1924. It was then in 1958 that J.W. Foster and Sons was renamed Reebok by the founder's grandchildren (a variety of basic South African antelope called rhebok in Afrikaans). Subsequently, the brand will have its rights bought by an American, Paul Fireman, founding a new company Reebok USA for North America. Thanks to numerous sales and good growth, Paul Fireman would eventually buy the original company located in England.
