Herschel Supply Co. is a Canadian company that sells retro hipster backpacks and accessories. Founded in 2009 by Lyndon and Jamie Cormack, it is based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Herschel manufactures its products in China and Southeast Asia. The brand offers backpacks, duffle bags, other luggage, hats, and other accessories. The brand is aimed at 18-35 year olds and is inspired by American nostalgia, notably through synthetic leather straps and a vintage logo, as well as its name, which refers to Herschel, Saskatchewan, a tiny Canadian hamlet where the founders' great-grandparents settled. The first Herschel store in Canada opened in Gastown, Vancouver, in 2018. Herschel has 44 stores worldwide, from Hong Kong to Dubai to Paris. Slate describes the brand as "a global phenomenon, visible wherever hipsters dare to set foot."
