Barbour Wax Dressing
Thornproof Dressing is Barbour’s original wax dressing, designed to restore weather protection and extend the lifespan of waxed cotton jackets. It can be applied to the entire garment or simply to high-wear areas such as shoulders, elbows, creases, and pocket edges.

How to use
First, clean the jacket with cold water and a sponge—do not use soap or detergent. Next, heat the tin of wax in hot water for about 20 minutes to soften it. Apply the wax to seams, creases, and dry areas using a cloth or sponge, then remove any excess.

Hang the jacket up to dry—ideally overnight—away from other garments. Barbour generally recommends reapplying the treatment once a year, depending on how often the jacket is worn.
Good to know
Never machine-wash a waxed jacket: washing removes the wax coating and makes it difficult to re-proof the jacket properly.
