Description
The Organic Strapcap is the foundational style of the KAVU brand. Its story began in 1991, when Barry Barr—then captain of a salmon fishing boat off the coast of Alaska—sought a way to keep his cap securely on his head in the face of wind and harsh weather. This idea gave birth to the "Strapcap," which has since become one of the brand’s most iconic designs.
This version retains the original construction, featuring a low-profile, four-panel shape, a slightly curved brim, and the signature patterned tubular nylon webbing, complete with a D-ring adjustment. The design prioritizes a secure fit and exceptional durability, incorporating five reinforced bartacks and protected internal seams.
The Organic Strapcap is now crafted from 100% certified organic cotton, while maintaining the technical details that earned the model its reputation. It continues to be hand-cut and sewn in Seattle, staying true to the historic construction of the original Strapcap.
