The Foul Weather Jacket is a reliable staple pulled from the archives and improved with an updated fit and sturdier fabric. This classic waxed cotton raincoat is constructed with a one-piece construction on the shoulders to eliminate seams that can be vulnerable to water entry. For this version, we used our signature oil-finished Shelter Cloth fabric, a mid-weight waxed canvas that takes its name from the fabric used for vintage military tents. The tightly woven fabric is fully saturated with liquefied wax by the historic British Millerain of England for water resistance. This centuries-old process dates back hundreds of years to the oiled sailcloth used by 15th-century sailors.
A dry-finish cover fabric liner adds a layer of protection between you and the waxed cotton hull . The two-way front zipper is protected by a snap-closure storm flap to keep wind and water out. Suede cotton moleskin from Brisbane Moss in England lines the collar and outer surface inside the hand pockets. Sleeve cuffs are snap-adjustable and feature a rib-knit inner cuff to seal out the cold. The waist and hem are adjustable by drawcord, as is the included detachable hood.
Relaxed fit allows room for mid-weight layers underneath.
